孟加拉成衣廠倒塌 死亡人數破千

孟加拉成衣廠倒塌事件迄今死亡人數累計已超過1,000人，成為全球史上最嚴重的工業災難之一。

搜救人員在孟加拉首都達卡郊區倒塌建築物Rana Plaza的瓦礫堆中找到更多罹難者的遺體，大多都是成衣廠的女工。

負責救災作業的軍方發言人Siddiqul Alam表示，隨著搜救作業進入第17天，累計死亡人數已升高到1,041人。

這起事件是繼1984年印度波帕爾（Bhopal）毒氣外洩、估計造成數千人死亡以來，全世界最嚴重的工安意外。

成衣廠所在的這棟九層樓建築在4月24日早晨突然倒塌，當時有正在上班的勞工超過3,000人，大多都是每月工資僅40 美元的勞工，包括女工以及一些青少年，他們為西方品牌製造成衣。

設計這座大樓的建築師表示，大樓原本是設計作為購物商場以及辦公室，而不是工廠。
