波音公司（Boeing）2日宣布，已開始打造夢幻客機787家族的新成員：加長版的787-9。

787-9客機可運載250到290名乘客，比2011年9月開始服役的787-8多40人，而且比同尺寸客機使用的燃料少20%，卻能多飛行300海里。

787-9客機預計將在數月內試飛，首批客機訂2014年初交貨給紐西蘭航空（Air New Zealand）。全球已有20名客戶訂購355架787-9，占所有787客機訂單的40%。

在夢幻客機系列比預訂目標晚三年多才開始服役、並因電池起火意外遭勒令停飛後，波音亟欲向客戶展現，公司有能力按計畫時程交貨。
