全球電腦業巨擘之一的戴爾(DELL)制定一份「自願離職計劃」，並表示員工必須在12月20日前決定是否簽訂離職協議。對於戴爾此舉，業界人士指為是戴爾將買斷部分員工的工齡，也就是變相裁員，其目的在於縮減營運成本以便實現戰略重組。

據瞭解，「自願離職計劃」並不包括軟體部門、副總裁以上高管、工程主管；同時，印度、新加坡、歐洲、中東和非洲的員工暫時不適用。

戴爾發言人大衛·弗林克(David Frink)表示，公司的戰略關鍵一直都是改善成本結構，釋放資本，以便投資對用戶有益的增長領域。而弗林克拒絕表示「自願離職計劃」將辭退多少員工。

另外，戴爾的創始人邁克爾·戴爾(Michael Dell)與今年秋天斥資249億美元私有化戴爾公司。他曾經表示，所有權結構變化將有助戴爾進行復興計劃，包括降低對PC業務的依賴，並提升線上軟體、科技服務和其他企業產品的業績。
