慈濟援菲 讓「棄城」重生

海燕颱風重創菲律賓，重災區獨魯萬市被聯合國形容為「棄城」，慈濟基金會上午表示，該會引用國際救災經驗，在菲國災區推動「以工代賑」，讓30萬人次菲國災民用自己的雙手投入整建自己家園，短短一個月內已讓「棄城」從廢墟中重生，此舉獲聯合國人道救援網頁頭版、美國華爾街日報報導台灣慈濟的賑災經驗。 在援菲告一段落，慈濟志工陸續返台後，參與援菲賑災的慈濟志工上午出席慈濟援菲記者會，分享此次賑災的創舉及內心的感動。菲國災區相較一個月前廢棄物堆積如山，如今站在獨魯萬市的街頭，街道已乾淨整潔，商店開始營業，生活回復秩序。

慈濟基金會指出，除「以工代賑」外，慈濟國際人醫會結合慈濟醫院醫護、藥師，分別於獨魯萬舉行四場大型義診，並以行動義診方式，隨時為居民提供醫療服務。義診人數累計超過4000多人次。
