「IBM個人電腦之父」病逝　享壽72歲

【周佩萱／綜合外電報導】被譽為是「IBM個人電腦之父」的威廉洛伊(William C. Lowe) ，19日因心臟病發於伊利諾州逝世，享壽72歲。

洛伊1962年加入IBM，當時擔任產品測試工程師，1980年他提出一項大膽計畫，希望組成一個團隊，用一年的時間打造出個人電腦，洛伊成功實現計畫，1981年8月12日IBM推出5150個人電腦。

1988年洛伊離開IBM，加入全錄公司(Xerox) ，當時洛伊表示雖然他在IBM仍有發展空間，但全錄看來是個很棒的機會，1991年他成為灣流航太公司(Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.)的總裁。
